Because it's full of fruits, curvy florals and pastel colours, I entered my "Fruitastical" pattern in this week's Spoonflower "Rococo" Design Challenge! Nothing says "Spring" more to me than this design so I thought it was timely! It is now available in my Spoonflower Shop in both Small- and Large-Scale versions on all kinds of fabrics, wallpaper and home decor!
AND MAKERS TAKE NOTE! All Fat Quarters are still 50% OFF on Spoonflower but only until tomorrow Friday March 5 2021. Stock up now, sew later! Check out my Spoonflower Shop and the Voting Page!

I first discovered the ANKH, the Egyptian hieroglyph meaning "life" on a months-long trip to Egypt many years ago while visiting tombs, the Great Pyramids and the Temples of Luxor, Karnak and Abu Simbel amongst many others. Because ancient Egyptians believed that one's life on Earth is just a part of eternal life, the ANKH hieroglyph has come to also symbolize "Everlasting Life". It was because of this meaning and my love of Egypt, that I decided to get this symbol as my only tattoo (so far). So when I saw that this week's Spoonflower Design Challenge is "Talismans", I immediately knew that the Ankh would be the one I would use for my design. Here is my entry, coloured to emulate ancient scrolls! It's now available on fabric, wallpaper and home decor in my Spoonflower Shop! And check out the entries at the Voting Page!
Here is my newest collection of fabric designs which I'm calling "Majolica" named after the gorgeous decorative pottery tradition! It includes some damask-inspired florals in vases and a geometric pattern in the 2021 Pantone Colors of the Year, "Illuminating" and "Dark Gray". I'm hoping to add more to this collection, but thought you might like to see it so far! I've entered the design on the left, called "Jardiniere" in this week's Spoonflower "Yellow and Gray" Design Challenge (closeup below too!) Thanks to all who let me know which design they thought I should enter! Check out this week's Spoonflower Voting Page!
AND FABRIC SALE ALERT! All these fabrics are now available in my Spoonflower Shop in this yellow/gray colour way and in a turquoise/gray colour way in two sizes. AND Spoonflower is offering 15% OFF on yards/meters of Petal Signature Cotton until tomorrow FRI Jan 29 2021! Link to my Spoonflower Shop! Voting is now open for this week's Spoonflower "Reimagined Damask Wallpaper" Design Challenge! I decided to enter my "Dreamy Damask" design with the Dark Gray background (thanks to all of you who let me know which colour you liked best!) I hope I chose the right one! In any event, all 3 colours (Dark Gray, Bright Purple and Red) are now available in my Spoonflower Shop in 2 scales (large and small) on not only wallpaper, but also fabric and home decor! You can check out all the fab entries at the Voting Page! Voting ends January 26 2021 at 3:00 EST.
Also check out my Spoonflower Shop for lots more of my designs on fabric, wallpaper and home decor! I think I'm in love (can I say that about one of my own pattern designs?!) The colours in this one just make me feel good (especially as I stare out at clouds and rain today)! This is my entry for this week's Spoonflower "Small-Scaled Geometric" Design Challenge. All the motifs are created with geometric shapes (maybe with a bit of cheating in only a few of the small details). Although the challenge called for "small-scaled" designs (for face masks and apparel), I couldn't resist also adding a large-scale version as well (love it on wallpaper, pillows, bedding and that blanket!) Now both scales are available in my Spoonflower Shop (link in bio). Check out all the entries (all 1150 of them, wowee!) at the Voting Page! Think warm and dry thoughts!
Here is my entry for this week’s Spoonflower “Climbing Vines Wallpaper” Design Challenge! I entered the moody dark one which I think would make a room super cozy as autumn approaches (or a pretty cool dress!) but I also created it in a different light colour palette too....Which do you prefer?! Both are in my Spoonflower Shop on wallpaper, home decor and fabrics too! Check out the Voting Page here to see all the entries! AND check out more in my Spoonflower Shop!
I’ve added my “Living Collections” pattern design to my Spoonflower Shop! So it’s now available on all kinds of fabrics (including new 100% Belgian linen!), wallpaper and home decor, in both large- and small-scale versions...I also entered it in this week’s “Tropical Surrealism Wallpaper” Design Challenge! Link to my Spoonflower Shop to see all the designs offered for sale there, and check out the Voting Page and cast your vote!
Ah, feel that warm lavender-infused breeze! Even if you’re not biking through the south of France right now breathing in that summer air between wine tastings (but I digress)...Here is my “Sunset in the Lavender Fields” pattern design that I entered in this week’s Spoonflower “Aromatherapy” Design Challenge! Head over to the Voting Page to check out all the entries!
Last week I posted about how I was having a hard time getting any work done in the midst of all the bad news (see my June 2 post), so I decided to just work directly and freely on my computer, playing around with colour and shapes and with no real end goal. Well, one week later, those little quick thoughts have turned into a full collection of art prints and repeat pattern designs. I call it "Simple Things" because it is just an ensemble of little snapshots that came out when I decided to not over-think. I must remember to work this way more often...Each design (both art prints and repeat patterns) comes in Dark and Light complementary colour ways so you can mix & match several for an eye-popping feature wall (and maybe some pillows as well!). Purchase these art prints in my NEW SHOP!
I thought my “Lora” design would be perfect for this week’s Spoonflower “Midsummer Festival” Design Challenge (esp as they celebrate the new season in Sweden) because this mid-century modern floral was inspired by Scandinavian design...What do you think? Does it make you think Summer in Sweden?! This design is now available in my Spoonflower Shop on fabric, wallpaper and home decor! And check out all the gorgeous designs at the Voting Page.
For this week's Spoonflower "East Fork" Design Challenge, Spoonflower paired with gorgeous ceramic maker East Fork Pottery. The challenge was to create a pattern design using at least one of East Fork's new collection colours Malibu and Tequila Sunrise (I used both)! Here is my "Tami" pattern design, one of a series of new mid-century-modern-influenced (!) designs named for popular girls names of the 50s and 60s. This one is now available in my Spoonflower Shop. And you can vote in the Design Challenge at the Voting Page!
My Entry for This Week's Spoonflower "Pine and Mint Throw Pillows" Design Challenge..."Sweet Pea"!3/6/2020 ...And now for something completely different...The idea for this week’s Spoonflower “Pine and Mint Throw Pillows” Design Challenge is to use just the two colours of Pine and Mint (plus black and white) to create a design suitable for throw pillows! Here is my entry called “Sweet Pea”! I originally designed this pattern design in other colours but thought pine and mint would work really well! If you would like to see all the entries, follow this Link to the Voting Page!
ADDENDUM! This design won 66th out of 858 entries and as a result, it is immediately available for sale in my Spoonflower Shop on fabric, home decor, wallpaper and more! So thankful to everyone who voted for my “Spring Ditsy” pattern design in the Spoonflower “Micro Modern Quilt” Design Challenge! The support is always so appreciated, inspiring and motivating! Because it won, it is now immediately available in my SPOONFLOWER SHOP! If you've had your eye on it for your projects now is a good time to buy because there is FREE SHIPPING until tomorrow Friday March 6 2020! Check out the Spoonflower Blog Post about the winning designs!
All the best, and once again, thank you for your support! It’s National Quilting Day on March 21 so in honour of that here is my entry for this week’s Spoonflower “Micro Modern Quilt” Design Challenge! The idea this week was to design a small-scale, non-directional ditsy print perfect for piecing together into a quilt top...A little insight into my design process: I started out with a more complicated design, but it just didn’t satisfy me, it was too busy, so I just kept paring it back, streamlining elements until it looked “just right” (at least to me!) I call this one “Spring Ditsy” (shown here with a coordinate called "Spring Dotsy"!)
I wonder...Do you work more intuitively or do you pretty much know where a design is going when you start? If you would like to see this week’s challenge entries, check out the Voting Page! I'm a bit late posting about my entry for this week's Spoonflower "Illustrated Spring Flora and Fauna" Design Challenge because I've been working on new work (stay tuned!), but here it is...My "Three Little Birds" pattern design which was inspired by the song (you know which one I mean!) I think this fits the challenge perfectly and makes me feel happy...kinda like a Spring day! I do like it on a cushion or for the tabletop...Link to the Voting Page here!
