This week's Spoonflower design challenge is "Neutral Retreat", the idea for this challenge was to create a larger-scale pattern for cozy bedding...I think my "Hellebores" pattern design in this Vintage colour palette does the trick! Check out the Voting Page (and all 859! entries, some of which I'm not sure I would call "neutral" though, maybe mine is borderline!)
I just spent a week (a very short vacation!) in Sayulita, Mexico which is a "Pueblos Magicos" located not too far north from Puerto Vallarta. It is a fantastic little town (surfers already know all about it!) full of colour, beautiful Huichol handicrafts and artwork, cafes with great food and coffee and of course...a gorgeous beach! I thought you might like to see a few colourful pics....
I entered my "Luna" pattern design in this week's Spoonflower "Moths" Design Challenge! When I was researching this theme, I was amazed by how many different shapes and colours moths come in...but I loved the shape of this one! If you want to check out all the gorgeous entries, check out the Voting Page!
The next Spoonflower Design Challenge is "Colour-Blocking Shapes", so here is my entry which I call "Utopia"! Voting opens August 15 to 20 at the Spoonflower Voting Page! I would love to hear your thoughts on this one if you have a minute! Thanks! Check out more of my designs in my Spoonflower Shop!
For the month of July, Slowdown Studio had a Blanket Design Competition with 12 winning artists having their designs featured in their 2020 Collection. But before you get tooooo excited, I didn't win (there were almost 10000, yes TEN THOUSAND, entries!), but it did spark some brand new work for me: Abstract Designs! I really enjoyed working just with shape, form and colour, and plan to (1) do many more for home decor and art prints, and (2) turn some of these abstract print designs into super funky, cool repeat patterns! I was so inspired, that I made a separate ABSTRACTS page in my online Portfolio (have a look!). More abstract pattern designs to come! Here are the 4 abstract-themed designs I submitted! Oh, and if you want to see some of the "process" videos for these, check out my Instagram feed! Hint: I plan to add these to my Society 6 Shop in the next few weeks as Art Prints!
I just entered my "Tiger's Eye" pattern design in this week's Spoonflower "Feline Frenzy" Design Challenge! Don't look her (or him?) directly in the eyes! This beautiful creature is available to license! Check out the Voting Page and vote for all your favourite designs or link to this design in my Spoonflower Shop. It's not yet for sale, but if it places in the Top 50 it will be available next week!
