Check out yesterday's "Designer of the Week: UnBlink Studio" Blog post on the Fashion Formula Blog which features a Designer Interview with me! I talk all about my process, design influences, current projects and my love of travel!
Just for fun today I stayed with the Colour Gang's monochrome colour palette challenge. I designed my Birds & Blossoms pattern and added a coordinate first, in black and white, but then decided to try it out in blue too! Then I decided to try the blue one with a lighter background! Which one do you like best?? I also might move away from the monochrome palettes and just go wild with colour too! Contact me to inquire about licensing my pattern designs!
For All You Sewing- and Quilting-Obsessed! Hobbies and Everyday Objects for Week 3 of FolioFocus 2018!
The brief for Week 3 of FolioFocus 2018 is called "Hobby House", all about everyday objects, especially sewing paraphernalia! So here is my final "Sewing Obsession" Collection and a fun journal set with this collection. Wouldn't this set be a great way to keep notes about all the fun sewing and quilting projects you want to do!
I've still been working on this week's "AstroSynergy" brief for FolioFocus2018. Here is the next in my Signs of the Zodiac series, "Aries" (see my earlier post for "Taurus"), again with a placement print and several repeat pattern designs. I would like to create a collection for each Sign of the Zodiac, each with its own unique colour palette and motifs, but also have all the different collections working together. Are you an Aries? Would love to hear what you think of this one! Do they work together?
This week's brief for FolioFocus 2018 was "AstroSynergy"! So I decided to design some Signs of the Zodiac, starting with "Taurus". Here is a collection with a placement print and several repeat designs. I might try and do "Aries" next...Are you a Taurus?! This collection would be wonderful on bedding, as shown!
I thought it would be interesting to post a couple of the preliminary sketches I do when I first start designing a new pattern. Usually I do some really quick pencil sketches with lots of quick scribbling just to work out motif ideas and layouts with lots of movement. Then I start to refine the lines and work and work and work until I get just the right look (you might even recognize the beginnings here of some of my newest pattern designs). Then I proceed to work on the design on my computer!
This week's brief in Folio Focus 2018 was called Boho Exotica with a Bug theme. Just finished this new pattern design. I didn't intend it when I started, but this one is directed at a younger audience! Wish I had more time to do some coordinates, but alas that will have to wait...
Working with some new colour palettes I created while doing a creative exercise in the Colour Gang yesterday, I created this new UNICORN design with a couple of coordinates! This mini-collection is available to license!
