I've just entered my "Jardin" design in this week's Spoonflower "Moody Tropical Flora Wallpaper" Design Challenge! I adapted this repeat pattern from an abstract floral art print I created (see it in my Art Prints Portfolio) and I really like how it has a modern Art Nouveau feel (maybe it has something to do with the colours too?)!
Check out all the entries at the Voting Page and you can shop this design in my Spoonflower Shop where it is available on fabric, wallpaper and home decor!

Ever since I designed my "Akkorokamui" octopus pattern for the Spoonflower "Cryptozoology" Design Challenge in March (2nd image below), which some of you said you loved (which I thank you for), I've been wanting to design a sea-themed pattern design to co-ordinate with it. Then I saw that this week's design challenge is SEASHELLS so I thought PERFECT I'll design a seashells pattern to coordinate with it! Here is the result (first image): my brand new "Ocean Jewels" pattern! What do you think? This design is now available on fabric, wallpaper and home decor in my Spoonflower Shop in 3 sizes!
Check out all the entries at the Voting Page! And see all the designs in my Spoonflower Shop too! . SALE ALERT! Spoonflower is offering FREE STANDARD SHIPPING Worldwide on Everything until Friday April 30 2021! And 15% OFF Recycled Canvas too! An old (and very creative!) school mate that I connected with again at my 35th high school reunion (yes, 35th!) recently asked me if I had any bicycle patterns on fabric. Sadly, I didn't, but it stuck in my mind so I created this design for her and made it available in my Spoonflower Shop on fabric, wallpaper and home decor. I call it "My Bike" because I remember how much I loved my bike when I was a kid (remember those tassels?) I wasn't sure what colours she wanted, so I created it in two nostalgic colourways: Mod Red and Black and Pastel Pink and Brown (she chose the first Mod Red and Black colourway!) I invite you to check out my Spoonflower Shop to shop hundreds of my designs on fabric, wallpaper and home decor!
For Art Directors and Licensees: This design is still available to license! Please contact me for info. Because it's full of fruits, curvy florals and pastel colours, I entered my "Fruitastical" pattern in this week's Spoonflower "Rococo" Design Challenge! Nothing says "Spring" more to me than this design so I thought it was timely! It is now available in my Spoonflower Shop in both Small- and Large-Scale versions on all kinds of fabrics, wallpaper and home decor!
AND MAKERS TAKE NOTE! All Fat Quarters are still 50% OFF on Spoonflower but only until tomorrow Friday March 5 2021. Stock up now, sew later! Check out my Spoonflower Shop and the Voting Page! Voting is now open for this week's Spoonflower "Reimagined Damask Wallpaper" Design Challenge! I decided to enter my "Dreamy Damask" design with the Dark Gray background (thanks to all of you who let me know which colour you liked best!) I hope I chose the right one! In any event, all 3 colours (Dark Gray, Bright Purple and Red) are now available in my Spoonflower Shop in 2 scales (large and small) on not only wallpaper, but also fabric and home decor! You can check out all the fab entries at the Voting Page! Voting ends January 26 2021 at 3:00 EST.
Also check out my Spoonflower Shop for lots more of my designs on fabric, wallpaper and home decor! Some of the ideas I've been playing with for a new collection I've been working on recently: unique colour combos, mix & match patchwork and pure abstraction and geometry! Although I'm working on another project (more about that soon!) that includes this new "Capri" pattern design, I thought it would also be perfect to enter in this week's Spoonflower "Create Room" Design Challenge which says: "The pattern you create should not only provide visual joy, but should inspire both you and others to create more", to use as a wallpaper backdrop in a DreamBox, an all-in-one craft room that folds away into a beautiful armoire, designed by Create Room. What do you think, does this design fit the challenge? In any event, I think it makes for a pretty cool bathroom! Check out the Voting Page!
I entered my “Book Stacks” design in this week’s Spoonflower “Cozy Reading” Design Challenge. When I started this design the shelves made me think of Dutch abstract artist Mondrian so I decided to channel his famous colours (plus a few others just because!) What do you think, does this remind you of Mondrian’s art?!
Check out all the designs at the Voting Page! ...And don’t forget...Spoonflower is still offering FREE STANDARD SHIPPING on everything worldwide until Friday Oct 30 2020!! I have over 300 designs in my Spoonflower Shop, so I invite you to check them out! What do you think, would this design on your walls inspire relaxation? You can check out all the entries at the Voting Page!
For this week's Spoonflower "East Fork" Design Challenge, Spoonflower paired with gorgeous ceramic maker East Fork Pottery. The challenge was to create a pattern design using at least one of East Fork's new collection colours Malibu and Tequila Sunrise (I used both)! Here is my "Tami" pattern design, one of a series of new mid-century-modern-influenced (!) designs named for popular girls names of the 50s and 60s. This one is now available in my Spoonflower Shop. And you can vote in the Design Challenge at the Voting Page!
“GO BANANAS!” This is what I named my entry for this week’s Spoonflower “Line Art Safari Wallpaper” Design Challenge!
And I hope you’re not literally going bananas after a month of staying home... If you would like to see all the entries, check out the Voting Page! And this fun design is now available to purchase in my Spoonflower Shop on all kinds of fabrics, wallpaper and home decor! I entered my "Cut Paper Snowflakes" design in this week's Spoonflower "Papercut Napkins" Design Challenge (you can see how I created it in the photos below)! I thought maybe snowflakes weren't the best theme for this time of year, but then I noticed a couple of stories in our local paper...
The Rapid Relief Fund which was created to help local people in need in this time of crisis, has gotten a boost from the Times Colonist (our local newspaper) Christmas Fund which is donating $100000 to match and encourage other donations. For the first time in history, the Christmas Fund is being put to work in the Spring. And a local woman has suggested we all turn on our Christmas lights to show thanks to our front-line health-care and other public workers. So, I guess...Christmas snowflakes in Spring? Why not?! You can check out the Voting Page to see all the entries! The Nugget Play Couch created by nuggetcomfort.com is a kid’s play couch that is “Part-furniture, part-toy, and all-around the best thing to happen to playtime since, well, ever!" Sounds like my kinda furniture! This week Nugget partnered with Spoonflower for this week’s “Nugget Couch" Design Challenge: to create a pattern to be used on a limited-edition Nugget to come out later this year. Some of the design elements they requested: colour-blocking, non-directional, bright colours (max 8), geometric, fitting into multiple room styles, design for stylish parents who might lean to minimalist style. And also remembering when my kids were younger we read endless books about shapes, sizes and colours, and played with building toys endlessly (I think we had every building toy out there), plus keeping older kids and "stylish” parents in mind, here is my entry which I call, not surprisingly, "Shapes Sizes Colours” (which I also quite like on bedding, pillows, table linens and wallpaper too!) This challenge is a FUN one, so I would be grateful for your VOTE on this one! Have a look at all the entries at the Voting Page!
I'm a bit late posting about my entry for this week's Spoonflower "Illustrated Spring Flora and Fauna" Design Challenge because I've been working on new work (stay tuned!), but here it is...My "Three Little Birds" pattern design which was inspired by the song (you know which one I mean!) I think this fits the challenge perfectly and makes me feel happy...kinda like a Spring day! I do like it on a cushion or for the tabletop...Link to the Voting Page here!
Here's a question: can a design be both Art Nouveau and minimalist at the same time?! I actually call this design from my archive "Art Nouveau" so I thought I would enter it in this week's Spoonflower "Art Nouveau Wallpaper" Design Challenge! When I designed it I thought it felt like Art Nouveau albeit a bit pared-down and minimalist! What do you think? Does it "feel" like an Art Nouveau design to you?! Check out the Voting Page to see this week's gorgeous designs!
ADDENDUM (on Jan 23 2020): This design won 30th place in the Art Nouveau Wallpaper Design Challenge (out of 581 entries!) As a result, it is immediately available for sale on Spoonflower, and it's already been sold a few times! Link to it HERE! Thanks so much to all who voted, I very much appreciate your ongoing support. All the best! J Blue birds and blossoms for this week’s Spoonflower “Whimsical Wonderland Wallpaper” Design Challenge! I love all-blue designs, in case you haven't noticed! If you want to check out all the designs, link to the Voting Page here!
