So I must admit, I'm kinda in LOVE with Barbie colours right now! Pink, Blue, Purple...I guess that's no surprise! So, I named my new floral pattern design "Dream House" (get it?!) and entered it in this week's Spoonflower "Tween Spirit Bedding" Design Challenge! What tween (or teen or full-grown adult or elder) wouldn't like this (um, don't answer that)?! This gorgeous floral is now available in my Spoonflower Shop on Fabrics, Wallpaper and Home Decor in 3 sizes and a bunch of colourways. Click the IMAGES below to link directly to the Large-Scale versions in my Spoonflower Shop (but don't forget, they also come in a Small- and Medium-Scale version too if you prefer that!) . If you'd like to vote in this Challenge, public voting for is open until Tuesday August 22 and you can link to the Voting Page HERE! AND OF COURSE, I had to try it out in several other colourways. Scroll down to see them! They're all now available in my Spoonflower Shop on Fabrics, Wallpaper and Home Decor in 3 sizes! Click the IMAGES to link directly to the Large-Scale versions in my Shop!

Another Catch-Up Post: My Entry for Spoonflower's "French Country Table Linens" Design Challenge!7/20/2023 I found it quite difficult to figure out what exactly "French Country" meant when it comes to pattern design (other than toile). I researched quite a bit and what struck me were the use of soft colours, especially blue and white. I hoped my "Thicket" design is French Country, at least in "feel", because I entered the Blue and White on Periwinkle version below in Spoonflower's "French Country Table Linens" Design Challenge (it also comes in the Blue White and Deep Cream version too)! And then I created my "Fanciful" Collection around this theme in Blue & White too! Have a look at the full "Fanciful" Collection on Fabrics, Wallpaper and Home Decor in my Spoonflower Shop! Each print comes in 3 sizes and there are co-ordinating solids too!
BTW: Public voting for this Challenge is now closed, but you can check out the current Challenge at the Voting Page! When you need to get your RETRO fix! Here is my abstract geometric "Circuits" pattern design in Coral Orange (on wallpaper) and Neutral Sand Brown (on cupboard and floor).
I've entered the Coral Orange version in this week's Spoonflower "Non-Directional Wallpapers" Design Challenge, but you KNOW it comes in a bunch of other colourways too (see below)! Public voting for this Challenge is on now until next Tuesday July 4 (July!?) and you can link to the Voting Page HERE! I'd love your vote for this one! If you want to see all the colourways of this design now available in my Spoonflower Shop, it's easiest to see them all in one place in my "Abstract and Geometric Themes" Collection. Each one comes in 3 scales on Fabrics, Wallpaper and Home Decor! I've been super busy the last few weeks, so missed posting about the last four Spoonflower Challenges! I wanted to catch up with them, so I hope you enjoy this recap! Wedding Table Linens Challenge (June 8 2023): "Seahells" For this Challenge, I knew I wanted something not-so-traditional. So I decided to enter my "Seashells" design in the first Pink, Yellow and Green colourway! Maybe perfect for a "destination" wedding in some warm tropical beach locale? You can see all the various colourways in my "Age Of Aquariums" Collection in my Spoonflower Shop! Tropical Fruits Challenge (June 15 2023): "Tropical Fruits With Lotsa Dots" Although I entered my "Tropical Fruits With Lotsa Dots" in the first Juicy Brights colourway (it's pretty fun on a Food Truck, right?) in the Spoonflower "Tropical Fruit" Design Challenge, I couldn't help trying this design out in a bunch of other colourways too: Earthy Brights, Mid-Century Vintage, Pop Art Brights and Postmodern. Should I keep going? Call me obsessed! They're all now available in my Spoonflower Shop in 3 scales on Fabrics, Wallpaper and Home Decor in my "Fruits and Vegetable Themes" Collection (with lots of other fresh designs too!) Click the images to go directly to that colourway in my Shop! Birds of Prey Wallpaper Challenge (June 22 2023): "Woo Hoo" Would these guys be what you think of when you think of "Birds Of Prey"? No?! Well, owls are birds of prey, even if they're funny and cute! I should know, one grabbed my head when I was running one dark morning, probably thought my ponytail was an animal tail (what would that have made my head?!) You can find my "Woo Hoo" design in my Spoonflower Shop in 3 scales; my TeePublic Shop for Graphic Tees and more; and in my Redbubble Shop on lotsa fun products! Buttercups Home Decor Challenge (June 29 2023): "Charmed With Buttercups" And FINALLY (for this post anyway)...After some last-minute mind-changing I decided to enter my "Charmed With Buttercups" design in the first moody Coral, Olive and Beige on Dark Purple colourway in the "Buttercups Home Decor" Design Challenge! I did create several other colourways for this design (see below), thus all the last-minute mind-changing, but thought the first colourway would be perfect for Home Decor! You can link to each colourway in my Spoonflower Shop by clicking on the images below! The links will connect you with the Medium-Scale versions (except the Duvet cover which is shown in Large-Scale), but these also come in both a Small- and Large-Scale too! PHEW! NOTE TO SELF: Don't miss posting about the Spoonflower Challenges each week! I'll try to keep up from now on. I hope you enjoyed this though!
Okay, I've done it! I've been sitting on my “Downtown” design for a (loooong) while, but I decided to finally add it to my Spoonflower Shop. When I saw the palette of saturated Blues and Greens that we had to use in this week's Spoonflower "Pantone Ultra-Steady Wallpaper" Design Challenge, I immediately thought the colours would really do well with this design, and I think it gives this urban scene a very quiet and still vibe. I still love this design in its original Bright Retro Colours (scroll to the bottom to see), but now I like it in the Ultra-Steady colours too! Public voting for this Challenge opened Thursday May 4 and closes next Tuesday May 9! You can vote at the Voting Page HERE and I'd love your vote for this one!
. My "Downtown" design is now available in my Spoonflower Shop not only on Wallpaper, but also on Fabrics and Home Decor too, in Both Colourways and 3 sizes (click the images below to link directly to these designs in my Shop)! "Wild Thing"! My Entry For This Week's Spoonflower "Italian Villa Wallpaper" Design Challenge!3/22/2023 When I first saw that this week's Spoonflower Design Challenge is "Italian Villa Wallpaper", the first thing I thought of was animal prints (think: Gucci). And then I couldn't help thinking about the types of colour palettes favoured by one of my favourite print designers of all time, Pucci. So, here is my "Wild Thing" abstract leopard print, inspired by Italian design, in a Retro MidMod colour palette! I can picture this on the walls of a Lake Como villa!
Public voting for this Challenge opens tomorrow Thursday March 23 and you can link to the Voting Page HERE! And click the images below to SHOP this design in my Spoonflower Shop! . BTW: There is a Pucci book that I COVET, but it's just a bit pricey at the moment...But WAITAMINUTE! Mother's Day is coming up...That's not a hint, OH NOOO... This week's Spoonflower Design Challenge is "Passementerie" and this is my entry which I'm calling... "Passementerie" (I like the word!) For those who don't know, passementerie are gorgeous trims and embroidery used for clothing and furnishings. I created this design in some other colours, but I entered the first one in Delicate Colours because they felt like Spring to me (if you're feeling more like Summer, you'll like the tropical-colour version, scroll down below)! Voting for this Challenge opens tomorrow Thursday March 9 and you can link to the Voting Page HERE! And click each of the images below to go directly to the Medium-Scale of these designs in my Spoonflower Shop! These are also available in a Small-Scale and Large-Scale version too! And see below for some other colourways of my "Passementerie" floral pattern design: Tropical Retro 70s Colours and Viva Magenta with Pink! Any favourites?
This week's Spoonflower Design Challenge is "Hidden Whimsy Wallpaper" and one of the examples they gave to explain the theme was "a traditional damask pattern created entirely of macaroni". So because I've really been thinking of geometric shapes lately, I decided to make a botanical pattern created entirely of geometric shapes! Here is my "Sunny Day" wallpaper. I'm not sure you can even imagine how fun this one was to create, and now I MUST do it in some other colours too!
Public voting for this Challenge is open now until Tuesday March 7 and you can link to the Voting Page HERE! Here goes a long story...So this week's Spoonflower Design Challenge is "Mosses". I think I spent about 2 days trying to come up with ideas for this one (close-up botanicals? moss-covered rocks in Zen gardens? mossy hillsides? abstracted leaves? ETC). I sketched pages of leafy motifs, squinting at closeup pics of all kinds of different mosses. Pretty hard to do on a computer or leafing through my garden books. So I went out into my garden to have a look. But I just wasn't feeling it...I finally decided I liked the close-up spiky leaves of Haircap Moss and sketched those a bunch. Then I thought about how they look from above (check out #haircapmoss and you'll see what I mean), and then kept repeating those, simplifying, repeating, simplifying...Until I came up with this geometric which has very stylized spiky Haircap Moss leaves as seen from above! Just wanted to explain so you can see that something that looks rather "simple", can sometimes take FOREVER...At least the COLOUR choice was really QUICK! If you would like to vote, you can link to the Voting Page HERE. Public voting opens today and closes Tuesday Feb 21! AND if you'd like to see this design in my Spoonflower Shop, click the images below! OF COURSE, I couldn't resist. I also added my "Haircap Moss" design to my Society6 Shop too so it is available on even more products, including Wall Art!

For This Week's Spoonflower "Room-Specific Wallpaper" Design Challenge I Chose the Boudoir!2/8/2023 This week's Spoonflower Design Challenge is "Room-Specific Wallpaper" and the idea was "to choose a room and create the perfect wallpaper" for it! How could I even resist...I chose a Boudoir (or Dressing Room, but I like the sound of "Boudoir" better), and created this Fuchsia Pink and Lavender Purple design. It's called "Glamour"!
Public voting for this Challenge opens tomorrow Thursday Feb 9 and closes Tuesday Feb 14 (Valentine's Day, which suits this design I think!) You can link to the Voting Page HERE if you'd like to see all the entries! . This new floral pattern is available in my Spoonflower Shop on Fabrics, Wallpaper and Home Decor in 3 sizes. Imagine it in VELVET! . EDITOR NOTE: I originally named this design "Boudoir", but that seems to have some "naughty" connotations, so I changed it to "Glamour" after the Challenge closed because it kept getting flagged in various uploads and searches. Go figure! Apparently all parts of the charming Lily of the Valley plant are potentially toxic, and contain compounds which can inhibit the heart's ability to pump if ingested. It's rated a 1 on the Toxicity Scale (because ingesting it can cause serious illness or death) and a 4 (because its juice can cause a skin rash). I didn't know this until I started researching "Poisonous Plants" for this week's Spoonflower Design Challenge (voting opens Jan 12 and closes Tuesday Jan 17)! Here's my entry: "Lily of the Valley" in Spring Green! You can link to the Voting Page HERE!
If you'd like to see this design in my Spoonflower Shop, click HERE. It comes in 4 scales on Fabrics, Wallpaper and Home Decor (this links to the Small-Scale version)! If you haven’t heard already, the 2023 Pantone Color of the Year is “Viva Magenta”, described as “a shade rooted in nature descending from the red family and expressive of a new signal of strength. Viva Magenta is brave and fearless, and a pulsating color whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration, writing a new narrative”. When Pantone announced their colour choice, I immediately started experimenting with this colour and the Pantone “Inspire” colour palette. See some of the results below, and check out more in my “Viva Magenta Collection”!
All of these pattern designs are now available in my Spoonflower Shop on Fabrics, Wallpaper and Home Decor! AND I entered my "Hana-Dark" Japanese-inspired design (first pic) in the Spoonflower "Viva Magenta" Design Challenge! I was a bit distracted over the holidays so I forgot to post about this Challenge earlier, but you can still vote until tomorrow January 3 2023! Even though I've just added my new "Bug's Life" repeat pattern design to my Spoonflower Shop, it actually has a very LOOONG history! The individual bugs are amongst my earliest designs created when I was very new to surface design. I originally sold them individually as Greeting Cards and Art Prints at various craft fairs and in my (now closed) Etsy shop. Then I revised and re-coloured them, and now sell them as Graphic Tees in my TeePublic Shop (check out my "Creature Features" Album there to see them, called "Retro Bugs")!
AND THEN...I put them all together into one design to make this repeat pattern! They're now available in all 4 colours in Small-, Medium- and Large-Scale versions on Fabrics, Wallpaper and Home Decor! I guess I've never really been able to completely archive these colourful bugs over the years and always seem to return to them. And funny enough, for this repeat design, I went all the way back to those very first, original colours! I thought this design would be perfect to enter in this week's Spoonflower "Flash Tattoo Sheets" Design Challenge (I entered the first version on Hot Pink) because the strong outlines and colours would make some pretty darn cool tattoos IMHO! Public Voting for this Challenge opens today Thursday Nov 3, and closes next Tuesday Nov 8 at 3:00 ET! Check out the Voting Page to see this week's entries! Click the images to see the Medium-Scale versions in my Spoonflower Shop! When I travel to other places, I love going to markets where it's so interesting to explore all the unfamiliar things, particularly food, and especially fruits and veggies I have never seen or tasted before. So when I saw that this week's Spoonflower Design Challenge was "Otherworldly Botanicals", I immediately thought about strange fantastical fruits as a subject matter. So here is my new "Ambrosia" pattern design which I filled with graphic melon-like fruits on curly vines (of course, it HAD to have curly vines!) Voting for this Challenge is now open and you can link to the Voting Page HERE. I would love your vote for this one (voting closes Tuesday Sept 20)! This design is also now available in my Spoonflower Shop on Fabrics, Wallpaper and Home Decor in 3 sizes, and you can SHOP this design HERE (in the Medium-Scale, it's also available in a Small- and Large-Scale too!) And of course, I couldn't resist adding this design to my Spoonflower Shop in some other colourways too, see below! Each colourway also comes in 3 sizes. Click on an image to link to the Medium-Scale versions directly in my Spoonflower Shop!
This week's Spoonflower Design Challenge is "Retro Floral Curtains" and I've entered my new floral "Danube" design in a gorgeous Royal Blue! My retro idea was to use all those bright and groovy 60s colour combos that I love: Blue with Turquoise, and Pink with Red, and Purple for good measure! If you'd like to vote, check out the Voting Page! And BTW: this design is available in my Spoonflower Shop in 3 sizes and in other colours too (scroll to the bottom to see)! And you can SHOP this design HERE! Duvet cover, pillows and curtains shown below are Large-Scale! Wallpaper shown below is Medium-Scale! My "Danube" floral pattern design is also available in my Spoonflower Shop in Ecru (left) and Moss Green (right) in Small-, Medium- and Large-Scale versions too!
