Here's a question: can a design be both Art Nouveau and minimalist at the same time?! I actually call this design from my archive "Art Nouveau" so I thought I would enter it in this week's Spoonflower "Art Nouveau Wallpaper" Design Challenge! When I designed it I thought it felt like Art Nouveau albeit a bit pared-down and minimalist! What do you think? Does it "feel" like an Art Nouveau design to you?! Check out the Voting Page to see this week's gorgeous designs!
ADDENDUM (on Jan 23 2020): This design won 30th place in the Art Nouveau Wallpaper Design Challenge (out of 581 entries!) As a result, it is immediately available for sale on Spoonflower, and it's already been sold a few times! Link to it HERE! Thanks so much to all who voted, I very much appreciate your ongoing support. All the best! J

A "folly" is a funny little whimsical building or structure built primarily for decorative purposes...So I thought it would be a good name for a new collection of funny little whimsical art prints I've been working on! These were designed as a triptych, and wouldn't they be wonderful altogether on a wall?! Would really love to hear what you think about these, since it's a bit of a departure for me but definitely something I will do more of! Stay tuned!
This is a bit delayed since I realize the Spoonflower "Jewel-Tone 70s" Design Challenge ended last week, but I just wanted to say thanks to all who voted in that challenge! My design came in at #20 (out of 617), so just really, thanks again!
And because it did well in the challenge, it is now immediately available to purchase in my Spoonflower Shop (link to this design here!) Originally designed after a trip to Mexico, someone recently referred to my “Sayulita” pattern as a “70s floral” so I thought...okay its a sign! I’ll enter it in this week’s Spoonflower “Jewel-Tone 70’s” Design Challenge! Check out all the GROOVY designs at the Voting Page!
Here is my latest design in a series of floral abstract prints I've been working on recently, and I'm really torn! I just can't seem to decide between these two background colours: blue-silver or bright teal. I think the flowers pop a bit more on the blue-silver, but the teal background just makes the whole design, well, brighter! This design is also one of a series I've been working on and both seem to work in the series equally well...Please help me out and comment about which one you like better! Thanks!
Blue birds and blossoms for this week’s Spoonflower “Whimsical Wonderland Wallpaper” Design Challenge! I love all-blue designs, in case you haven't noticed! If you want to check out all the designs, link to the Voting Page here!
I feel like I’ve been posting about my new “Modern Chintz” pattern design a bit much lately but I’ve just entered it in this week’s Spoonflower Design Challenge which just so happens to be “Chintz”! So thought I would let you know. On one hand, this design started with all those old-fashioned floral chintz patterns you've seen so much of (and which I love), but the way I drew the motifs and the fun colours are definitely more of today! If you would like to check out all the gorgeous designs, you can link to the Voting Page here (voting ends Nov 12)!
My new “Jardin” print (on the right, with "Eden" on the left)! Not sure if you can tell how much fun it is to draw the abstract floral prints I’ve been creating lately, but you can check out the process at my Instagram page in my “Sketching” highlights if you like!
If you walked into a candy store, could you resist these chocolate bars wrapped in my Mexican-inspired “Bougainvillea”, “Sayulita” and “La Lancha” pattern designs??! Not me!!
Maybe they would have flavours like Mexican hot chocolate or cacao bean...These designs are available to license now, and not just for packaging! Contact me for more info! Spoonflower is offering FREE STANDARD SHIPPING Worldwide on all orders until October 27 2019!! You can purchase my pattern designs on all kinds of fabrics and home decor items, including my popular “Eucalyptus” design now featured in the current Holiday Issue of Spoonflower Magazine. Link to my Spoonflower Shop to check out what's available!
And check out the whole inspiring Spoonflower Holiday Issue too! I do love an all-blue pattern design! My newest design (on the left) is called "Berry-luscious" and I designed it to accompany my "Three Little Birds" design which I posted about a few days ago. I envision these together for home decor (armchair with pillows? wallpaper?), on super fun giftware, for gorgeous apparel, or as the start of a fantastic fabric collection...Contact me if you are interested in licensing these designs for your products!
When I'm working in my studio I often get distracted by little movements in the bushes outside my windows, usually caused by cute little gorgeous birds...So this new design is me trying to capture them in pattern! If you would like to follow along with more of my recent work, I invite you to check out my Instagram!
I recently did a series of these Folk Floral designs, and I ended up submitting this one for this week's Spoonflower Folk Art Tea Towel Design Challenge! There really are so many wonderful designs this week! I just voted! If you would like to cast your vote, check out the Voting Page!
And you can link to my Spoonflower Shop to see more of my designs here: Here are two more in a series of 4 folk-inspired floral designs (see my previous Blog post for the first two in this series!) that I have designed for greeting cards. Have a look at all 4 and let me know which you like best...and why?!
I've been slowly but surely working on a series of folk-inspired greeting card layouts the last few days, in response to a creative brief from the Make It In Design Live Hub community that I belong to! Here are the first 2 designs (of, hopefully, 4) in the series. I am curious...which one do you like better and why? Colours? Layouts? I'm going to get started on #3 ASAP!
