I think I'm in love (can I say that about one of my own pattern designs?!) The colours in this one just make me feel good (especially as I stare out at clouds and rain today)! This is my entry for this week's Spoonflower "Small-Scaled Geometric" Design Challenge. All the motifs are created with geometric shapes (maybe with a bit of cheating in only a few of the small details). Although the challenge called for "small-scaled" designs (for face masks and apparel), I couldn't resist also adding a large-scale version as well (love it on wallpaper, pillows, bedding and that blanket!) Now both scales are available in my Spoonflower Shop (link in bio). Check out all the entries (all 1150 of them, wowee!) at the Voting Page! Think warm and dry thoughts!

Here is my entry for this week’s Spoonflower “Climbing Vines Wallpaper” Design Challenge! I entered the moody dark one which I think would make a room super cozy as autumn approaches (or a pretty cool dress!) but I also created it in a different light colour palette too....Which do you prefer?! Both are in my Spoonflower Shop on wallpaper, home decor and fabrics too! Check out the Voting Page here to see all the entries! AND check out more in my Spoonflower Shop!
What do you think, would this design on your walls inspire relaxation? I hope you think so because I’ve entered it in this week’s Spoonflower “Quiet Spaces” Wallpaper Design Challenge! It’s also available on fabric and home decor as well! You can check out all the entries at the Voting Page!
I thought my “Lora” design would be perfect for this week’s Spoonflower “Midsummer Festival” Design Challenge (esp as they celebrate the new season in Sweden) because this mid-century modern floral was inspired by Scandinavian design...What do you think? Does it make you think Summer in Sweden?! This design is now available in my Spoonflower Shop on fabric, wallpaper and home decor! And check out all the gorgeous designs at the Voting Page.
My Entry for This Week's Spoonflower "Pine and Mint Throw Pillows" Design Challenge..."Sweet Pea"!3/6/2020 ...And now for something completely different...The idea for this week’s Spoonflower “Pine and Mint Throw Pillows” Design Challenge is to use just the two colours of Pine and Mint (plus black and white) to create a design suitable for throw pillows! Here is my entry called “Sweet Pea”! I originally designed this pattern design in other colours but thought pine and mint would work really well! If you would like to see all the entries, follow this Link to the Voting Page!
ADDENDUM! This design won 66th out of 858 entries and as a result, it is immediately available for sale in my Spoonflower Shop on fabric, home decor, wallpaper and more! Because it won, it is now immediately available in my SPOONFLOWER SHOP! All the best, and once again, thank you for your support! It’s National Quilting Day on March 21 so in honour of that here is my entry for this week’s Spoonflower “Micro Modern Quilt” Design Challenge! The idea this week was to design a small-scale, non-directional ditsy print perfect for piecing together into a quilt top...A little insight into my design process: I started out with a more complicated design, but it just didn’t satisfy me, it was too busy, so I just kept paring it back, streamlining elements until it looked “just right” (at least to me!) I call this one “Spring Ditsy” (shown here with a coordinate called "Spring Dotsy"!)
I wonder...Do you work more intuitively or do you pretty much know where a design is going when you start? If you would like to see this week’s challenge entries, check out the Voting Page! I'm a bit late posting about my entry for this week's Spoonflower "Illustrated Spring Flora and Fauna" Design Challenge because I've been working on new work (stay tuned!), but here it is...My "Three Little Birds" pattern design which was inspired by the song (you know which one I mean!) I think this fits the challenge perfectly and makes me feel happy...kinda like a Spring day! I do like it on a cushion or for the tabletop...Link to the Voting Page here!
Wakefield Design Studio is a Florida-based textile print studio that focuses on contemporary, highly sophisticated, and trend-right designs for women's wear, juniors, swimwear, home and accessories. I designed a range of exclusive botanical prints for them which they will show next week (Jan 21-22 2020) at Premiere Vision NYC at the new show venue Center415 on 5th Avenue! Come see all the prints Wakefield will be showing at Booth C5!
Here's a question: can a design be both Art Nouveau and minimalist at the same time?! I actually call this design from my archive "Art Nouveau" so I thought I would enter it in this week's Spoonflower "Art Nouveau Wallpaper" Design Challenge! When I designed it I thought it felt like Art Nouveau albeit a bit pared-down and minimalist! What do you think? Does it "feel" like an Art Nouveau design to you?! Check out the Voting Page to see this week's gorgeous designs!
ADDENDUM (on Jan 23 2020): This design won 30th place in the Art Nouveau Wallpaper Design Challenge (out of 581 entries!) As a result, it is immediately available for sale on Spoonflower, and it's already been sold a few times! Link to it HERE! Thanks so much to all who voted, I very much appreciate your ongoing support. All the best! J So those of you who know my work are probably thinking, "That's weird! Where's the colour?!" Well the answer is that my "Calatheas in Black and White" pattern design is my entry for this week's Spoonflower "Black and White Painterly" Design Challenge! You can check out all the monochromatic designs on the Voting Page here!
This is a bit delayed since I realize the Spoonflower "Jewel-Tone 70s" Design Challenge ended last week, but I just wanted to say thanks to all who voted in that challenge! My design came in at #20 (out of 617), so just really, thanks again!
And because it did well in the challenge, it is now immediately available to purchase in my Spoonflower Shop (link to this design here!) Originally designed after a trip to Mexico, someone recently referred to my “Sayulita” pattern as a “70s floral” so I thought...okay its a sign! I’ll enter it in this week’s Spoonflower “Jewel-Tone 70’s” Design Challenge! Check out all the GROOVY designs at the Voting Page!
Here is my latest design in a series of floral abstract prints I've been working on recently, and I'm really torn! I just can't seem to decide between these two background colours: blue-silver or bright teal. I think the flowers pop a bit more on the blue-silver, but the teal background just makes the whole design, well, brighter! This design is also one of a series I've been working on and both seem to work in the series equally well...Please help me out and comment about which one you like better! Thanks!
Blue birds and blossoms for this week’s Spoonflower “Whimsical Wonderland Wallpaper” Design Challenge! I love all-blue designs, in case you haven't noticed! If you want to check out all the designs, link to the Voting Page here!
